Childish Gambino added to "2012 Woodie Awards" and "Woodie Awards Festival" Performers

mtvU has announced that Childish Gambino will be joining the “2012 Woodie Awards”, for which he is nominated (Breaking Woodie), as well as the 2012 “Woodie Awards Festival” along with other performers such as: A$AP Rocky; Chiddy Bang; Gary Clark Jr., and more, during the SXSW Music Festival on March 15.

The day will begin at 1pm CT with a host of live performances by up-and-coming artists during the first-ever, open-air “Woodie Awards Festival.”  Open to all SXSW badge holders and free for music fans, the performances will lead up to the “2012 mtvU Woodie Awards,” which will take-over the Festival at 8pm CT on March 15, 2012.

“I’m really excited to be performing on MTV,” said Childish Gambino.  “I’ll try really hard to hold myself to the standard of the shit I saw when I was a kid.”

Nominated for the 2012 “Breaking Woodie,” Childish Gambino, the rapper persona of Donald Glover, is no stranger to the “Woodie Awards” stage. The energy and enthusiasm Donald Glover brought as host of the “2011 Woodie Awards” will be amplified in his Childish Gambino performance on the 2012 stage, bringing his multiple talents together into a musical collage fitting of the Woodies.  And, on March 16, 2012 – the day after the Woodies – Childish Gambino will head to Atlanta to kick-off his U.S. CAMP tour.

The entire festival will stream live on Woodies.mtvU.com on March 15, for those of us who will not be in Austin during SXSW.
